Welcome to my humble blog...Jennifer and I met while we worked at Home Depot back in 1998. We were married in 2003, and now I am all alone at the Depot. We love our two boys, Thomas and Joshua, and our other two kids, Baby Girl (Lab mix) and T.J. (Chow/Shep Mix). There is no telling what you might find on here. It's all very random. I earned a Master's of Divinity degree (M. Div.) from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN, and did some additional work at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Jennifer is a stay at home mom and the Principal, Teacher, and Administrator of Reeder Christian Academy for our two boys. Since 2008, we have lived in Tyronza, Arkansas, where I am the Pastor at Barton Chapel Baptist Church.

Enter your email address and I'll let you know when I post something new. (What a great idea!)

Today, I got lucky

It was a Poppy moment.

I remember when my grandfather was alive, I used to call him up to chat. Every once in a while, I'd say, "Poppy, how ya doin?"

He'd reply, "I got lucky today."

"Really? What happened?"

"Oh, my alternator went out on my old car."

"You call that luck?" I'd ask.

"Well, I was at home when it happened. I could have been out on the road and then I'd have been in real trouble."

In some weird way, it made sense. So I had a Poppy moment today. I got lucky. For no real obvious reason, I felt the need to jack up my car and look under the hood. Actually, I've got a brake line that's been needing replacing for months, and today seemed like a good day to do it. I got under the car, and lo and behold there's all this fresh antifreeze in places antifreeze ain't supposed to be. Turns out one of my radiator hoses just broke. It must have just happened cause my car hasn't been overheating. Anyway, it may sound corny to some, but I have to think God lets things happen in certain ways. I don't know why I decided to work on that brake line today of all days, but had I not, I'd certainly have been stranded out somewhere in the next couple days. Sometimes He's taking care of us and we don't even know it. So, I guess I'm replacing a radiator hose today, hopefully a brake line too. Now don't go getting all theological on me. I don't know why God didn't just make the new radiator hose appear and save me the trouble. He can tell us that someday. But it goes to show you that sometimes "luck" isn't "luck" after all.
