Welcome to my humble blog...Jennifer and I met while we worked at Home Depot back in 1998. We were married in 2003, and now I am all alone at the Depot. We love our two boys, Thomas and Joshua, and our other two kids, Baby Girl (Lab mix) and T.J. (Chow/Shep Mix). There is no telling what you might find on here. It's all very random. I earned a Master's of Divinity degree (M. Div.) from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN, and did some additional work at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Jennifer is a stay at home mom and the Principal, Teacher, and Administrator of Reeder Christian Academy for our two boys. Since 2008, we have lived in Tyronza, Arkansas, where I am the Pastor at Barton Chapel Baptist Church.

Enter your email address and I'll let you know when I post something new. (What a great idea!)

2006 - The Chinese Year of the Dog

WOOF!!

I'm probably more excited about this than you are!

Ok. I swore to myself that I wouldn't be this way. I'm gonna be the normal first time dad anyway. Jenn had an ultrasound done on Wednesday to make sure everything was going ok. Everything is just fine. If you are medically inclined, you understand this picture. But for those of you like me, that little black dot above the middle of the text is where the baby is. Right now, you can't see him/her by ultrasound because he's/she's so small, less than one centimeter the Doc said. But aparently this is what they want to see at this point in the pregnancy! Yes, me and Jenn might be a little goofy for getting excited and posting what looks to you like a fuzzy black dot. But we knew it would be like this. So its ok that you aren't jumping up and down. Really. . .it is.

"Big Daddy" What?

It was a simple, one time joke. After we found out Jenn was pregnant, I jokingly told her that from now on, she should call me "Big Daddy." (pronounced "Daddeh") this is an audio post - click to play
I continued the fun at work when I told my HR manager about it, then added on the the best Elvis voice I could, "Thankyuu. . . Thankyuuu vereh much. . . " this is an audio post - click to play
and a little Joey Tribiani "How Youuuuu Doin?" this is an audio post - click to play
And that was the end. Next thing I know, "Kim Reeder a.k.a. 'Big Daddy'" ends up on the board in the manager's office and random associates start walking by me in the aisle, "What's up 'Big Daddeh?'" And it's all over from there. Can't say I'm surprised. Or that I mind. In fact, It's fun. But it just goes to prove that old saying, "When you spit into the wind, don't be surprised if you get wet." That's not exactly an old saying, but you get the point.

AMAZING! ! !

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. . ." Jeremiah 1:5a

According to www.wprc.org this is a picture of what our baby could look like right about now, or at least in the next couple days. According to them, "The unborn child is only one-sixth of an inch long, but is rapidly developing. The backbone, spinal column, and nervous system are forming. The kidneys, liver, and intestines are taking shape."

AMAZING! ! ! ! ! !

Let It Snow!! . . . Says Tater!!

This was certainly a surprise. I looked out this morning and this was my front yard. Not that I'm complaining mind you. I love it, and as I found out - So does my dog!
Tater would have been glad to stay outside all day if I had let her!

Speaking of old friends. . .

Every so often we cross paths with people that, under normal circumstances, we might never meet. Such is the nature of this group. Six years ago, who knew that a little summer mission trip to Boston would begin a friendship that continues today?
(Back Row - Kim, Aaron, Cody. Front Row - Melissa, Jennifer, Carrie - and not shown, because he lives so far away, Michael)
From different backgrounds and parts of the country, we found ourselves thrust into the sphere of church planting - together, a team. We learned a lot about ourselves, and each other. We learned a little of what to do, and a whole lot of what NOT to do. A few years later and some life lessons learned, we all periodically get together to discuss what's going on with our lives - our dreams, our futures, and our visions. We spend the time catching up on the past and encouraging each other for the future. I would have probably never met any of these people without that mission trip, but my life is better for it. So today, I celebrate unexpected friendships - the ones that you never see coming, but leave a lasting impression!

How time flies!

Wow. Over a month since I've posted. Hope you had a great Christmas. I know we did. Packed up a bunch of our stuff and traveled a couple hundred miles to see family, open presents, see old friends, and, of course, eat! Nothing like putting on those holiday pounds. Now comes the hard work of "working" them off, plus a little we hope!
