Baby shower. . . A few weeks late.
August 10th
There’s nothing like a good hot shower.
And I do mean HOT! But not the kind where the water runs down to wash your tension away and the mirror fogs up till you can’t see anything. I mean the kind where you load up the car and drive from Louisville, to sunny, sweltering Memphis for a baby shower. This past weekend, Jenn and I loaded up our little big dog tater and our unborn child (that part wasn’t so hard - for me anyway) and took off for Memphis - home of the blues, rock and roll, Elvis, and one of the highest homicide rates in the country. It was great. Take a house full of people, add some great food, throw in some fun and funny moments, it all equals one heck of an afternoon full of good memories. I was so glad to see my family who came from West Kentucky, (Thanks guys for driving all that way for just a couple of hours - we haven’t all been together like that for a long time. . . I think maybe since Kyle and Bethany’s wedding?) we had lots of great food (Thanks Shannon and Kristi), from mini blt’s (or was it bmt’s?) to cucumber slices, to some kind of crackers and spreadable dip. Not sure what all was in it but it worked on a variety of food surfaces. Of course who can forget the baby cake?
Thanks to everyone, we were able to cross a bunch of stuff off our list that we needed for our little family addition (that would be Thomas in case you are wondering). And yes, it was HOT! I mean break-a-sweat-standing-in-the-shade hot. Too-hot-to-go-swimming hot! Ice-melts-even-in-the-freezer hot. I MEAN. . . well you get the picture. And as I sat there looking around, it occurred to me that I am so blessed to be surrounded by family who love me, Jenn and Thomas so much. The gifts were great, but even greater was the love and support that I will never take for granted.

What a darling baby you have been blessed with. Can't wait to see Thomas but guess we will have to. Love, Gramma Reeder
